Copenhagen Classic – a Guided Walking Tour
A private guided walking tour that is especially good if you are a first-time visitor and want to explore the northern part of Copenhagen City, home to both The Statue of the Little Mermaid and The Amalienborg Palace.
Let’s do a private guided Copenhagen Classic tour from colorful Nyhavn with its cozy old buildings to the iconic Little Mermaid and back again. Copenhagen is designed to accommodate pedestrians and the city is best explored by foot. It’s the reason that Slow Tours Copenhagen always recommends guided walking tours, another reason is, that a walk gives you plenty of time to immerse yourself in the experiences.
Your qualified tourist guide will take you on a stroll along the northern harbour front of Copenhagen City, one of the most beautiful parts of the Danish capital and give you an introduction to Copenhagen (and Denmark).
Sightseeing tour to famous Copenhagen landmarks
On your private guided walk, you will visit some of the most famous sights in Copenhagen and get facts and good stories. Highlights include The Amalienborg Palace, a rococo palace from the 18th century, guarded by The Royal Lifeguard, and the residence of the Danish King and his family.
Next to the palace is The Marble Church, and you will learn why it took 145 years to complete this impressive church. An inside visit is possible (if not closed due to religious ceremonies).

‘Meet’ The Little Mermaid and walk through the citadel
The statue of The Little Mermaid is (of course) the star of a Copenhagen Classic tour. But before we get to this iconic statue from 1913, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale, you will experience another fascinating work of art: The Gefion Fountain. The fountain is the biggest monument in Copenhagen and inspired by a tale from Norse mythology.
During this private walking tour along the harbour front, you will get an overview of the pocket-sized Danish capital and hear about Copenhagen today and in the past. You will experience old landmarks like Kastellet (The Citadel), one of the best-preserved strongholds in Europe, but also newer ones like the Royal Danish Opera House and Playhouse, examples of modern Danish architecture.
Let your dedicated guide give you insight in Copenhagen’s long history and give you an idea of how it was and is to live in the world’s (second) happiest country.
The tour ends in Nyhavn (The New Port). In this lively, yet more than 350-year-old neighborhood, you can enjoy a well-deserved ice cream or beer while you digest all the impressions your private tour gave you.
