Cozy Old Copenhagen – Walking Tour in the Medieval District

The perfect walking tour if you are a first time visitor to the Danish capital. This private guided city walk takes you to some of the main attractions in the Copenhagen city center and gets you orientated. An inside palace visit can be added.

Let’s explore the medieval district with its crooked streets, cobblestones, and picturesque houses, some of them the oldest houses in Copenhagen. When you walk with me, you are together with a Dane who knows her city like the back of her hand and loves to tell about it!

On your private guided tour, I will tell you interesting and fun stories from the long Danish history and give you an impression of how it was and is to live in the pocket-sized Danish capital.

A private guided tour through the oldest part of Copenhagen

During this private walking tour through the oldest part of Copenhagen you will get an overview of the city center and hear about the city today and in the past. You will – among many other things – experience Church of Our Lady, the Copenhagen Cathedral. We will do an inside visit (if not closed due to religious ceremonies).

Another famous landmark is The Round Tower, a 17th-century observatory. You can add a visit to The Round Tower, and we will walk up the 281 meters (922 feet) spiral ramp and approx. 50 steps to the top of the tower for a fine view of Copenhagen from above.

Close by is The Grey Friars Square, a cozy urban space with a history that dates back to the 13th century. As we stroll through the crooked cobblestone streets, you will also see houses from around 1640, The City Hall, University of Copenhagen, and the pedestrian street Stroeget, one of Europe’s longest pedestrian streets.

Copenhagen walking tour with good stories and photo opportunities

The tour gives you an introduction to Copenhagen (and Denmark). You will see and get facts and good stories about the famous and classic sights and landmarks in Copenhagen – and some hidden gems too. If you love taking photos of colourful old houses, cozy squares and impressive buildings, this tour will fulfill you wishes.

The last stop of the tour is Christiansborg Palace. The palace, located on an island, houses the Danish parliament and The Royal Reception Rooms where the Danish King signs laws and receives state visits, and where banquets are held.

A private guided visit to The Royal Reception Rooms at Christiansborg Palace

Optional: Add 1. 5 hour to your private tour and let me show you The Royal Reception Rooms at Christiansborg Palace. I will guide you through the gorgeous halls and let you enjoy the 17 colorful modern tapestries in the Great Hall.  The tapestries are full of tales from 1,100 years of royal Danish history.
